The contrast paint will work only on the pale areas leaving almost untouched the black-blue, hence creating a nice transition. This is very time consuming and it's probably overkill if you plan to paint a large batch of tyranids with this technique. For a good tabletop quality, 2-3 layers of edge highlight are probably enough. So, i mixed blue-greens-grey etc until i obtained a color suitable for the first layer, something that could be similar to The Fang from GW.

Problem started with Yriel Yellow it kept turning black or dark brown, green and was almost a luminescent yellow so I decided to tone it down with more Averland yellow before giving it a dry brush of pale yellow. I should of dry brushed over the Yriel yellow rather than go back to Averland. so now I've got the biege to pale yellow going on.
